This picture is a called Street scene in Greensboro, Alabama. The photographer is Jack Delano photographer and was taken May 1941. The setting is outdoors with natural lighting in an urban area during the daytime. There are three people which I am estimating to be 77, 59, and 52. They are wearing overalls and long sleeved shirt, jacket and pants, they have canes, and worn shoes. The men in the photograph
are African-American elders. What catches my eye is the man sitting down because that sets a whole different height level and sets off the picture. The scenery is a building, probaly a store; the building looks to be in good condition. These men are close together surrounding the building. This is a light photowith a positive message.
I think that this pictue is sending a positive message because it is not showing the harsh or rude conditions in the time of the Great Depression or when racism was still very much alive. I do not like this photo, however, because it also decives the idea of the Great Depression and racism during that time.
A question I would ask the photograper, Jack Delano, would be why he wanted to take a picture of these particular men, if there was even any reason at all, why.
A question I would ask to the men in the photograph would be about their childhood. For example, how much work did they have in do in and outside the family or if they were how were they discriminated against because of their skin color.
